| Summary |
Pasolini's brutally realistic directorial debut follows the tragic life of a charismatic young pimp in the slums of 1960s Rome. Nicknamed 'Accottone' or 'Sponger' after his commitment to never working and living off the exploits of his prostitutes, he spends his time hanging out with fellow swindlers and slackers. When he falls in love, he contemplates leaving it all behind and going straight but circumstances conspire against him. |
